Textik records and imports audio, turns it into text, and can translate that text. This policy explains what that involves: what we collect, which services process it, how long it is kept, and how to delete it.
Account. Your email address and a user ID. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the email address and identifier that provider shares with us.
Audio you record. With your permission, Textik uses the microphone to record audio, only while you are recording.
Files you import. With your permission, Textik reads the videos you pick from your photo library, and the audio or video files you pick from Files. It reads only the items you select. Where it can, it extracts the audio track on your device and uploads only that. If it cannot, the file is uploaded as it is.
Transcripts and translations. The text produced from your audio, translations you ask for, recording titles, lengths and languages, and your settings.
Purchases. Whether you have an active subscription, and its purchase history. Payment is handled by Apple. We never receive your card or payment details.
Usage and diagnostics. Events describing how you use the app (for example, that a transcription started or a paywall was shown), crash and error reports, performance data, and device information. These are linked to your user ID and email address.
We use it to transcribe and translate your audio, sync your library across your devices, manage your subscription and monthly limits, send transactional emails (such as account confirmation and password reset), fix bugs, improve the app, and respond to your requests. We do not use your recordings or transcripts to train AI models. We do not sell your personal data or share it for advertising.
We share data with the following services only to provide the app. Each processes it under its own privacy policy and terms.
AssemblyAI (speech-to-text). When you transcribe a recording or an imported file, its audio is sent to AssemblyAI, a third-party AI speech-recognition service. AssemblyAI converts it to text. It fetches the audio through a private link that expires after 24 hours, then returns the transcript to us.
Anthropic (translation). When you translate a transcript, its text and the recording's title are sent to Anthropic's Claude, a third-party AI model, which returns the translation. Nothing is sent for translation unless you ask for it.
Supabase (hosting). Stores your account, audio files, transcripts, translations and settings, and runs the server code that calls AssemblyAI and Anthropic.
RevenueCat (subscriptions). Receives your user ID and your App Store purchase records so it can manage your subscription.
PostHog (analytics) and Sentry (error reporting). Receive the usage events and diagnostics described above, together with your user ID and email address.
Apple and Google (sign-in). Only if you choose to sign in with them.
